Aarth translates to "deeper meaning," a concept that defines everything we do. Our purpose is to take guests beyond surface-level dining, inviting them to explore the rich history, emotion, and symbolism woven into every thread of modern Indian cuisine. We are a place where heritage meets contemporary art, creating novel, surprising, and deeply fulfilling experiences in Parnell, Auckland.

FOUNDING STORY
Aarth is the realisation of a long-held dream by Chef Vinayak Shah, stemming directly from his personal heritage and deep connection to the regional diversity of India. The restaurant was born from the desire to create an intimate, unapologetic expression of his culinary identity - a place for people to gather, share, and experience food that is crafted with care, inspired by history, and elevated by the finest local Auckland produce.
OUR APPROACH TO FOOD
Our thoughtful Indian-inspired menu is a journey across India's diverse regions - from the Goan Coastal broth of the Oyster Sol Kadhi to the North Indian classic approach in our Buffalo-Milk paneer. We meticulously source the finest produce, including local treasures like Tara Hills Wagyu, to elevate every taste and texture. Our food is designed to be shared, discussed, and remembered.

Chef Vicky

Chef Vicky’s philosophy is rooted in dualism: honouring traditional Indian techniques while embracing contemporary innovation. Having run some of Central Auckland and Waiheke’s top restaurants (Cassia, Kol, Ki Maha), he brings a refined, modern lens to the nostalgic flavours of his childhood. His plates are a personal narrative, with echoes of his mother’s home meals, designed to surprise, delight, and ultimately leave guests with a sense of connection, or Aarth, that extends far beyond the meal.
